Our Team
Brothers Jason and Daniel Godfrey, owners of Urbangro, founded the company with the aim to live out their passion and common love and appreciation for nature, our planet and peace of mind that the food on their table is organically produce and sourced.
Their passion permeates through all aspects of the business. A work experience in March 2019 in a commercial hydroponics farm designed in Europe for the Seychelles, and the “bug bit”, so to speak. The decision was made to pursue growing fresh produce in controlled sustainable environments.
A chance encounter at the Mahe International departure gate with a wise farmer, (Oom Jan), and year of extensive research and building their aquaponic system, lead to the Chartwell Gro Lab becoming a reality, right here in Fourways, Gauteng.
The talented team at Urbangro come from diverse fields of Logistics and Marketing and their knowledge gained, through passion for sustainable, healthy, quality organic produce is delivered fresh to your plate.
Jason Godfrey
Jason graduated with a BCom Strategic Management in 2016 and then completed a Honours Logistics Management from the University of Johannesburg in 2017.
Jason has a practical approach to all things mechanical and makes sure that all the system is running 24/7. Jason manages the day to day operational aspects of the business ensuring that our systems run continuously, and the fresh produce gets what is needed to ultimately get to our passionate network of healthy communities.
Jason has a love for the outdoor life and loves spending his spare time taking guests on a game drive and braaiing at any given moment.
Daniel Godfrey
Daniel graduated with a BCom Marketing from IMM Stellenbosch in 2017 where he spent 3 years studying and then completed his Honours Marketing in Johannesburg in 2018.
While living in Stellenbosch, Daniel spent many days traveling to neighboring farms searching for the best fresh produce and seeking out the most nutritional aspects of organically grown foods.
Daniel is passionate about health and the nutritional aspect of the food we put into our stomach. Daniel has gift for growing what nature provides and behind the scenes he is ensuring that all the levels of the science of nature are prevalent in what grows in the greenhouse.
Inspector Harvey
Harvey is a local resident on the property and is fascinated with all daily activities. Although not allowed in the greenhouse, he keeps a watchful eye on all activities surrounding it.
