We take the science of growing, seriously.

The “Gro-Lab”

Process.

We have taken each aspect of the process and devolved the best ways to create the ideal growing environment encouraging natural growth in our produce. We have greater control over the growing environment of our crops.

Recirculating Aquaponic System.

Our gravity fed Recirculating Aquaponic System (RAS), uses energy saving pumps supplied, in part, from solar energy. Evaporative cooling is used in the summer to cool the greenhouse and water, and natural heating methods in the winter allowing for a suitable controlled climate all year round.

Off Grid System.

We are working towards having our 600m2 of greenhouse completely off grid, with no carbon footprint. More than a third of our energy is generated from solar panels and our water is supplied from our rainwater roof catchment system and ground water when required.

Everything is designed, to be self-sustainable and eco sensitive.

Frontier Production Technology.

Our ultimate aim is to implement a form of measurement called “Frontier Technology”, so that we can perfect and improve our systems and share these measures to support and help grow our industry. Frontier Technology is a production function that defines the technological relationship between the level of inputs and the resulting level of outputs. If estimated econometrically from data on observed outputs and input usage, it indicates the average level of outputs that can be produced from a given level of inputs (Schmidt, 1986).

Self-reliance is not about doing it by yourself. A self-reliant attitude is about becoming consciously interdependent and embracing the many communities in which we live.
